Founder and Chairman of Network Economy

 

Stefan is a serial entrepreneur and the founder and chairman of Network Economy Group. Currently Stefan is engaged in FTTH projects in Western Europe and he is chairman of Biossence Ltd, a renewable energy from waste company in the UK.

 

Network Economy has created more than 20 ventures in the past 13 years. Average investment period is around 4 to 5 years. Investments in the past have ranged from telecoms, software and waste to energy infrastructure businesses. Trade sales have been very successful with an equity factor up to 150.

 

Network Economy has also been involved in fibre to home evaluation for some European incumbent telecoms, private equity approaches as well as in local initiatives of municipalities. Together with Malcolm Matson, founder of COLT Telecom, Stefan supports Open Access initiatives.

 

As a major shareholder of TIMe Group, Stefan designed, funded and built-up 14 companies (12 regional fibre access carriers, a WLL company and a Co-location centre corporation). These ventures were set up as Joint Ventures with German Municipality organisations, such as Stadtwerke (local utilities), local saving banks, as well as with Ruhrgas companies (E.ON) and Siemens AG.

 

Together with Adesso AG, Stefan founded IP Value Technologies, an Operations Support Systems software company based on open standard OSS/J. Stefan has extensive experience in the telecommunication industry and is lobbying Open Innovation initiatives.

 

Past experiences include being Managing Director of Metropolitan Fibre Systems Communications in Germany, where Stefan successfully set up the first local loop access carrier in competition to Deutsche Telekom. Stefan has also been the Business Development Manger at British Telecom, where he was responsible for acquisitions and strategic alliances for BT Europe.

 

Stefan was a member of the R&D council of the Munich Kreis for more than 10 years and he was a member of the advisory board of central R&D of Deutsche Telekom.
